Pontoon builder Premier Marine promoted Lori Melbostad to president.

The move will place Melbostad, who had previously served as vice president of operations, in charge of the company and all operations.

Current president and founder Bob Menne will remain CEO and continue his involvement as a spokesman for the company and an ambassador for the brand.

“I’m looking forward to a new opportunity,” Melbostad said in a statement. “There are few things I love more than boating and working within the marine industry, and I’m excited to be able to focus on providing high-quality products for our dealer network, consumers and boaters alike. Pontoons have seen a lot of growth over the past few years and I am looking forward to growing Premier into the future.”

Melbostad has 25 years of experience working with boat companies such as Premier, Palm Beach, Weeres and Forester Boats. She joined her current role leading operations for Premier Marine in 2001.

“Lori brought her leadership skills and helped grow internal operations over the last 13 model years,” Menne said. “Her skill at managing all the business, combined with her 25 years of marine industry experience, has been a winning combination. We’ve done great work together, and now I’m looking forward to acting as an ambassador for Premier and promoting the boating industry.”

The change in leadership will be effective immediately. Premier said it recently hosted a successful dealer meeting showcasing its new model year 2015 pontoon product offering to dealers near its plant in Minnesota. The company refined its 17 models of pontoons and launched new products at the event.

“Working hand and hand with Lori over the years gives me great confidence in her ability to lead Premier into the future. Her relationships with dealers, employees and our vendors will make it a natural transition,” Menne said. “It will be great to have a strong leader, dedicated mother and avid boater at the helm of the company.”

“There is nothing that I am more passionate about than leading our family of pontoon brands into the future,”Melbostad said.
