Pursuit Boats said it started the construction of a new building at its Fort Pierce, Fla., facilities that will enable the company to increase production by as much as 50 percent to meet growing demand for its sportfishing and cruising boats.
The company said the increased pace of introductions such as the S 328 has generated enthusiasm that requires more manufacturing space.
“We’re excited about the expansion and what the growth means for our company. A lot of hard work and planning has gone into making this a reality,” Pursuit Boats president Bruce Thompson said in a statement. “The new building will give us the capability to grow our portfolio while also increasing the efficiency of our manufacturing process.”
The company said the $2.1 million expansion will add 30 new jobs and 14,000 square feet to the existing facility. The company said the construction is scheduled to be completed this summer, allowing production to begin in August, coinciding with the start of the 2018 model year introduction.
Pursuit said it has introduced three new sport models from 32 to 40 feet.
“Our market share and retail sales have shown consistent growth over the past several years, solid indicators that our product mix, features and benefits match market demands and high-end customer expectations,” vice president of sales George Hetzel said. “It is no accident that our manufacturing facilities need to expand; it is the result of great business acumen under the current Pursuit leadership and family.”
