Regal Marine is reporting its best month for product shipments since September 2008.

"We shipped 150 boats in April and we anticipate May to be a strong month as well," said Tim Kuck, executive vice president and COO, in a statement. "We are headed in the right direction; however, we continue to remain cautiously optimistic, knowing it will take time before we, and the industry as a whole, return to the rate of production and boat sales that we enjoyed prior to 2008."

Company president and CEO Duane Kuck called the report "encouraging" and said the company has been working hard to strengthen its position during the downturn. The company has added new dealers and a new Regal Factory Showroom.

"We are family-owned, financially sound and conservatively managed," Kuck said in a statement. "We've been in business for over 40 years and because we are an independent entity we have the ability and freedom to offer a greater level of innovation and agility. I believe these are the strengths and qualities that today's dealers are looking for when partnering with a manufacturer."

Regal Marine has two production plants with one located at the Regal headquarters in Orlando, Fla., and a second plant in Valdosta, Ga., that together employ 450 people.
