Riva Yacht unveiled the 56’ Rivale on Saturday, further expanding its open yacht fleet, and did so at an event where luxury automaker Abarth also debuted the special limited edition of its 695 Rivale.
“Presenting the 56’ Rivale, an iconic name in the history of Riva, which today identifies the new open — a charming, technological and powerful boat — means paying homage to our past while looking firmly into the future,” Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi said in a statement.
The 56’ Rivale was introduced during an event at the Sarnico shipyard, where Riva began 175 years ago.
“We lived a memorable day: the introduction of the new 56-foot Rivale in Sarnico, where everything started and where every debut becomes unforgettable,” Galassi added. “This fantastic and charming open yacht, powerful and technological, has the privilege to glide on 175 years in the history of Riva.”
Rivale is also the name of the Abarth 695 Special and Limited Edition. Abarth is celebrating the Riva anniversary with an ultra-limited production of the 695 Rivale.
“Abarth was inspired by the extraordinary new Riva boat in designing its new special and limited edition model: the magnificent 695 Rivale,” Galassi said. “The partnership springs from common shared values, passion for excellence and research for performance, expressed as always with an unmistakably unique style."
Riva powers the 56’ Rivale with twin 1,000-hp or 1,200-hp MAN engines with V-drive inboards. With the 1,000-hp engines, the boat can exceed 40 mph and cruise at about 36 mph. Stepping up to the bigger motors adds about 4 mph to the top speed and 3 mph to the cruise.
Highlights of the 56’ Rivale include large glazed windows running along the hull, metallic exterior colors and a contoured wraparound windshield. In the stern the steps on the port side of the swim platform can be partially submerged, revealing additional steps actually molded into the hull. They provide for convenient passage into and out of the water without needing a ladder.
Also in the stern, the garage houses a Williams 325 tender. For passenger comfort, there’s a large aft sunpad, and the main deck lounge has a forward-facing seating area with an L-shaped sofa around a table to port.
Abaft the helm station a cabinet houses a refrigerator, icemaker, a grill, a sink and a bar. For relief from shade or an unexpected shower, an electro-hydraulic bimini top can be raised. Below deck, the 56’ Rivale has a lounge-dinette, a galley and two private staterooms with en suite heads. There is also a day head and a crew cabin that can be replaced with a third stateroom.
