Tiara offshoot to hire employees

More employees could be hired as early as next week at Energetx Composites, the Holland, Mich.-based wind turbine startup that is an outgrowth of the Slikkers' family Tiara Yachts company.

A work force of nearly 300 is expected by summer 2011, in the wake of winning a $3.5 million clean-energy manufacturing grant, according to an article in the Holland Sentinel newspaper.

The grant, funded by the federal economic stimulus dollars, will help Energetx fund infrastructure, licensing for turbine blade design and employment.

"Our staffing needs will be spurred by this crucial investment of the state of Michigan. Additional employees will be added as early as next week with a more significant ramp-up planned for 2010 as increased business will support," Kelly Slikkers, vice president for business development, told the newspaper.

Energetx was formed in 2008, seeking to enter the wind turbine industry by building turbine components such as blades and nacelles, the housings for the mechanisms.
