ABYC honors board member at IBEX

The American Boat and Yacht Council presented board member Robert Unger with a service award.

Unger was honored for service through active participation on committees and boards that have benefited the goals of the ABYC.

"I have known Bob since I began here at ABYC in 2002,” ABYC president John Adey said when presenting the award, according to a statement. “He is always willing to use his resources to further the mission of ABYC. We have always relied on him to provide much needed honest and timely feedback on any projects, future initiatives or, most importantly, hidden opportunities. This award is well deserved. ABYC is what we are because of members like Bob.”

Unger served on both the electrical project technical committee from 2005 to 2014 and the technical board from 2008 to the present.

With the sale of Professional Mariner and Unger's upcoming retirement, ABYC chose the Sept. 30-Oct. 2 International BoatBuilders' Exhibition & Conference in Tampa, Fla., as the venue to present the award.
