Airmar Technology’s donation of a PB200 WeatherStation helped Albemarle High School win first place in the SailBot International Robotic Sailing Regatta held June 9-13 in Gloucester, Mass.

The Albemarle team, from Charlottesville, Va., was one of 18 that participated in the seventh annual event, a competition in which high school and university teams build an unmanned sailboat that must navigate a variety of tasks with limited human control. Contestants are judged on fleet racing, navigational accuracy, station-keeping, presentation and long-distance racing.

“We were pleased to support Albemarle High School with a donation of an Airmar PB200 WeatherStation and excited about the team’s first place ranking in the 1-Meter Competition,” said Steve Boucher, Airmar CEO and founder, in a statement. “SailBot is a terrific event that challenges students’ engineering knowledge in a multi-disciplinary task that requires mechanical, electrical, and software skills.”
