Caterpillar reported a decline in marine-engine sales for October compared with October 2009.

However, the rate of decline was less than the previous two months.

Sales in October were down 14 percent compared with 2009. Sales were down 38 percent in September and 40 percent in August, compared with the same months in 2009.

October engines sales in all other segments were either up or flat, Caterpillar reported.
