Caterpillar sales slide in February

Caterpillar's marine engine sales continued to decline in February, according to documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Sales were down 23 percent in February, compared to February 2009, the company reported. Sales were down 18 percent and 29 percent respectively in January and December when compared to the same months in the previous year, the report shows.

Caterpillar reported declines in engine sales in all segments.
