Fly-fisher and media personality April Vokey signed on as an Evinrude partner for 2014.

Vokey is the founder of Fly Gal Ventures, an operation born out of the workshops she designed to bring specialized courses and instruction to female anglers and newcomers to the sport.

The British Columbian steelhead angler and guide is also a conservationist who has been featured in Outside magazine’s “XX-Factor” segment in 2012 and has appeared on numerous television programs, including her hosting duties on “Fly Nation TV.”

Evinrude said its partnership with Vokey brings the brand’s excitement to dealers and OEMs in Canada and the Pacific Northwest. Her exposure in print and broadcast media also offers Evinrude access to this specialized audience.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Evinrude,” Vokey said in a statement. “Evinrude helps me do what I love and sustain my passion for conservation with its eco-friendly engines. We’re a natural fit for each other.”

Vokey, who will use her Evinrude engine regularly in her guiding work and will feature the brand in her marketing materials, will also be the subject of a short film at the 2014 International Fly Fishing Film Festival.

“Adding April Vokey to our ambassador lineup is great news for Evinrude and a testament of our commitment to the Western marketplace,” Midwest and Western regional sales director Krista Sparkes said in a statement.

“Fly Gal Ventures reaches a large portion of our Western markets, and April’s media footprint will benefit Evinrude dealers and consumers alike. This partnership showcases our industry-leading clean Evinrude E-Tec technology and reinforces our long-term commitment to both our dealer network and the marine industry as a whole.”
