The IYRS School of Technology & Trades will open its Friday Night Lecture & Guest Series on March 27 in Newport, R.I., with stories from graduates who have developed their degrees into careers.

The series will start with two graduates of the boatbuilding and restoration program: Seth Hagen, who graduated in 2002, and Carter Richardson, who graduated in 2004. Hagen and Richardson, who had work experience when they enrolled at IYRS, founded East Passage Boatwrights in 2006 in Bristol, R.I.

The series will span four Fridays with presentations at 7:30 p.m. in Restoration Hall at 449 Thames St.
