The Closed Mold Alliance launched a Web site aimed at those wishing to convert to closed-mold manufacturing.

The site will provide general closed-molding information, educational opportunities, access to expert consultation and closed-mold-specific products.

The Closed Mold Alliance comprises Composites One, Magnum Venus Plastech, RTM North and FormaShape, a division of Whitewater Composites. The alliance offers manufacturers closed-mold education and expert consultation, customized tooling education and production, materials and equipment, along with in-house start-up assistance and training.

A series of educational programs is offered through Closed Mold University and provides opportunities for manufacturers to gain technical knowledge, as well as practical, hands-on training and experience.

International vertical market software company Latitude 26 launched a software application dedicated to yacht brokerage management, global inventory marketing and promotion tailored for yacht brokers and dealers operating on the Joomla 1.5 platform.

This software will effectively run on proprietary broker or brokerage house Web sites while distributing automatic feeds to a network of relevant advertising and industry-related Web sites.

While the application has been customized for the yachting industry, the software is still turnkey and cost-effective for the individual broker or brokerage house looking to display its inventory and have the ability to promote their own brand on a stand-alone company Web site, according to the company.

By enabling yacht brokers and dealers to maintain and promote their inventory under their own domain, they will maintain control of their Web presence and avoid the expense of marketing their exclusive or open listings on the same site as their competitors.

Latitude 26 has additional yachting-related products that will be hitting the market later this year, including a yacht charter booking and reservation and crew management software.

The OceanLines Web site has passed the 6,000 monthly unique visitors mark and is continuing to grow nearly 20 percent per month, according to publisher and editor Tom Tripp.

"We've only been online full-time for nine months now, but the response has been terrific. There is a niche audience out there that doesn't want to wait weeks or months to read in print the latest news about passagemaking boats, technology, people and places," Tripp said in a statement.

OceanLines is an online publication featuring the latest news in passagemaking boats and marine science.

* * * celebrates its 20th anniversary of luxury houseboat rentals and marina operations at Lakes Shasta, New Melones and McClure in California with a "summer vacation stimulus package."

"We are offering $1,000 off any houseboat rental for the July 4th holiday between June 26 and July 5," company spokeswoman Yvonne Cantrell said in a statement.

"Never before have we offered this phenomenal deal for the Fourth of July holiday. It is our own 'summer vacation stimulus package' and has received an overwhelming response - to the extent that we've had to limit the number of houseboats available in the program," she added.

In May, passed a milestone of 20 years in the houseboat rental industry, with more than 50,000 voyages launched in two decades.
