Mercury Marine announced it will hire about 150 manufacturing and distribution employees in Fond du Lac, Wis.

The positions are in departments that include assembly, machining, die-cast, trim and warehousing, Gannett Wisconsin Media reported.

The jobs are available because of increased engine orders; a transfer of work from Mercury's sterndrive plant in Stillwater, Okla., to Fond du Lac; and the potential for increased demand for outboard engines.

"We remain scheduled to complete the move of all the work from Stillwater to Fond du Lac by the end of this year," company spokesman Steve Fleming told the newspaper. "The slowly recovering marine industry is leading us to add jobs and our staffing levels at the respective locations will remain flexible, depending on the current demand. We're preparing to service our customers as best we can."
