Mercury Marine angler takes another fishing title
Jason Williamson of Wagener, S.C., won the sixth consecutive BASS Elite title by a Mercury Marine-powered angler when he captured the Pride of Georgia title at a fishing tournament last week in Evans, Ga.
Williamson entered the final day of the four-day event in the lead, hauling in a 7-pound, 12-ounce fish. He only needed 7 pounds, 8 ounces to win the $100,000 first-place prize money.
"Words can't describe how it feels to win in front of these folks," Williamson said.
Kevin VanDam, also a Mercury-powered angler, won the Bassmaster Classic in February, making it a clean sweep for Mercury pros in major 2010 events so far.
The next BASS Elite tour event will be held June 10-13 on Kentucky Lake near Paris, Tenn.
