Detmer will report to Erik Norrie, co-founder and chief executive officer of Sea Hawk Paints. His responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations, as well as executing growth initiatives.

The news comes less than a month after Trade Only reported that Norrie was sentenced to three months in prison after pleading guilty to willfully conspiring to knowingly distribute and sell an unregistered pesticide.

Company president David Norrie was sentenced to five months in prison and six months of home confinement after pleading guilty to willfully conspiring to obstruct the Environmental Protection Agency. New Nautical Coatings, doing business as Sea Hawk Paints and Sea Hawk Refinish Line, was sentenced to pay a fine of $1,235,315.

Prior to joining New Nautical Coatings and the Sea Hawk brand, Detmer spent two years as president of the Niles division of the AVC Group, a subsidiary of Nortek and part of Nortek's Home Technology Group. He spent the nine years prior as sales and marketing vice president of the company.

“As Sea Hawk positions itself to be the leading provider of premium, application specific products that elevate the enjoyment of boating experiences above all others, well-managed daily operations and timely execution of strategic initiatives is critical to meeting the company’s goals,” Erik Norrie said in a statement.
