The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers will present its annual medals and awards during the SNAME Maritime Convention Nov. 1-5 at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue, Wash.

SNAME will recognize three individuals Nov. 3 at the SNAME annual banquet for their outstanding contributions to naval architecture, marine engineering or ocean engineering and ship research.

The David W. Taylor Medal for notable achievement in naval architecture and/or marine engineering will be presented to professor Dracos Vassals at The University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Vice Admiral Emory S. “Jerry” Land Medal for outstanding accomplishment in the marine field will be presented to William L. Hurley, Jr., chairman of Glosten, Inc.

The Dr. Kenneth S.M. Davidson Medal for outstanding accomplishment in scientific accomplishment in marine research will be presented to Torgeir Moan at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology’s Department of Marine Technology.

SNAME will also recognize the additional individuals for their technical contributions on Nov. 4. Click here for information.
