Sunsation Powerboats has created an engine-performance and dress package for the new 8.2L MerCruiser, exclusively for Sunsation Boats, the company announced.

"We were actually a little surprised at the 'look' of the 8.2 from the very first time we took delivery," Sunsation's Wayne Schaldenbrand said in a statement. "There was no question that the 502-cubic inch, catalytic converter-equipped, 430-hp high performance V-8 was the most advanced new engine in its class. But the styling of the engine was so far off from what our customers expect ... we had to do something."

The company said its dealers are happy with the new package.

"It makes a huge difference, adding not only value to the boat, but desirability and the ability to differentiate from some of the stock powerboat offerings in the marketplace," Mindi Doller, president of Doller Marine, said in a statement.
