Torqeedo announces personnel move

Electric engine manufacturer Torqeedo named Capt. Todd Sims as its hybrid systems global sales and product manager.

Sims will lead sales and create opportunities for the company's newest offering, the Deep Blue Hybrid system.

“Todd is extremely knowledgeable about electric propulsion, including our full range of motors," Torqeedo president and general manager Steve Trkla said in a statement. "We're glad he's part of our team and we know he'll be an invaluable asset as we launch the Deep Blue Hybrid system."

Sims spent 23 years in the information technology industry in technical and sales positions.

For the past eight years he has owned and operated EPowerMarine LLC, an independent boat dealership in South Florida that specializes in electric propulsion options for boaters.

Sims is a Coast Guard-licensed captain and is certified by the American Boat and Yacht Council in marine electrical systems.
