MasterTrim is designed to enhance the efficiency of Arneson surface drives.

Marine transmission and drive manufacturer Twin Disc is now offering MasterTrim, an automatic trim control system, on select models of Arneson surface drives.

The system will debut at the Nov. 1-5 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

Using sensors, the programmable MasterTrim system adjusts the trim position of the drives and, if the boat is so equipped, trim tabs or interceptors, which the company said should improve efficiency and performance. MasterTrim has operator-selectable modes to help fine-tune the boat’s ride, based on sea conditions and vessel loading.

MasterTrim will be available on the Arneson ASD08, ASD10, ASD11, ASD12 and ASD14 models, starting in 2018. Arneson drives have a surface-piercing design in which the skeg and propeller blades are the only components in the water.

The company said this reduces underwater drag by 50 percent, compared with traditional marine propulsion systems.
