Westerbeke Corp. said it named Gregory Haidemenos as its new president and CEO.

The company said Haidemenos will assume his new position immediately. He succeeds John H. Westerbeke Jr., who will remain chairman of the board.

Haidemenos has been with Westerbeke for 21 years, beginning his career with the company in 1996 as controller. In 1999 he was elected chief financial officer, and in 2004 he was promoted to chief financial and operating officer.

Founded in 1937 by John H. Westerbeke Sr., Massachusetts-based Westerbeke makes marine engine products that are available in gasoline and diesel versions.

Westerbeke said its diesel generators range from 5.0 kW to 29.0 kW, with low-CO gasoline models from 3.5 kW to 22.5 kW. Westerbeke also manufactures and markets Universal Marine engines from 20 hp to 26 hp, including replacements for the Universal Atomic Four engine.

Westerbeke said it also makes and markets a line of marine climate control systems under the trade name Rotary Aire.
