Yamaha hands out scholarships

Yamaha Marine Group announced the recipients of the 2009 Yamaha Marine Dealer Scholarship.

The program awards scholarships to children of Yamaha Marine dealers, children of employees who have been with the dealer for at least two years and dealership employees under the age of 21. Applicants were judged on their academic standing, leadership, community involvement and writing/communication skills.

"This year's recipients have demonstrated unparalleled excellence in their academic endeavors, and show a strength of character as well as a commitment to public service," said John Rigsby, Yamaha Marine Group national sales manager, in a statement.

Award winners are Samantha Walter, R&K Marina, Rushford, N.Y.; Christian Powers, Westside Marine, Port Townsend, Wash. and Samuel Grimes, Don's Marine, Tiverton, R.I.
